Throughout my 18 year legal career, I have helped startups and small companies grow their businesses. Whether it's in a new field like software development and design, information security architecture, cyber security biotechnology, or a tried-and-true industry like real estate development or hospitality, the constant thread throughout my varied career has been that I love helping company owners and management teams navigate business risk through thoughtful legal advice and planning.

I started my career counseling both big and small companies as an associate with large and mid-sized law firms. As a Navy wife, my family moved a couple of times, first from the Washington DC metro area (where I started to practice law at a large law firm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius), to Monterey, California and then to Honolulu, Hawaii. When we moved back to the mainland in 2008, I started working for TexelTek, a small government contractor focusing on software development for the Department of Defense. Since that time I have focused on counseling a number of different DoD contractors as their in-house counsel. Once I shifted from practicing in a law firm to being in-house, I realized quickly how even mid-sized law firm financial dynamics put those billing rates out of touch for small companies. When my family and I were ready for me to start my solo practice, I knew I needed to price myself aggressively to be able to target the small companies that need smart legal and strategic planning advice, but can't afford $650+ hour billing rates to get it. I am focusing my practice on providing "outsourced" general counsel services for those startup businesses who need someone with sophisticated background and training, but at a much leaner price point.
